Electric scissor lifts are revolutionising the industry with their cutting-edge design and functionality. Unlike traditional lifts, electric scissor lifts operate on electric power, offering several advantages. With various sizes and weight capacities available, these lifts can handle different project requirements, providing seamless elevation and enhanced productivity.
To begin with, let’s understand how an electric scissor lift operates. Electric scissor lifts are powered by rechargeable batteries which provide the electrical energy needed to operate the lift. It is controlled through a control panel located on the lift platform or on the base of the lift. The control panel typically contains buttons, switches, and a joystick to raise, lower, and manoeuvre the lift.
The scissor lift gets its name from the scissor-like mechanism that extends vertically to raise the platform. The scissor mechanism consists of linked arms with pivoting joints, which extend or retract as the lift is operated.
The platform
The top of the all electric scissors lifts is a flat plane. This is the area used for both the items you wish to be lifted and the individual controlling the machine. This can vary in size and shape depending on the nature of the products. The platform itself is not controlled, it simply sits upon the supporting beams and cylinders, which are.
The scissor legs
The supporting beams, or the scissor ‘legs’, are the main part of the cross-balance support mechanism that allow the lift to go up and down. These involve a variety of extending, folding, and pushing motions to allow the items to be securely lifted up high, whilst also being able to be compact and stowed away when not in use. As the legs draw closer to each other vertically, the platform rises. When they move apart and compress themselves together horizontally then the platform is lowered.
The base
This sits at the bottom of the legs and creates a stable stand for the mechanics to sit upon. It often also has wheels for practicality as this means the lift can be manoeuvred easily wherever it is needed.
The electric power supply
Everything described above is then powered and put into motion using a small electric motor. This is self-contained in the base of the lift and controls all the movement as well as the control panel. The electric all electric scissors lifts is an all-around piece of equipment, useful for a variety of terrain and jobs. Whether it’s organising the warehouse or helping in construction, the electric all electric scissors lifts is fume-free, low noise, and compact.
All electric scissors lifts are engineered with precision and attention to detail. Key design elements and components ensure reliable performance and durability. Advanced safety features and compliance standards prioritise the well-being of operators and workers, providing peace of mind on every project. The ergonomic design of all electric scissors lifts optimises operator comfort and productivity, allowing for extended usage without fatigue.
To cater to diverse project requirements, all electric scissors lifts come in different sizes and weight capacities. Whether you need to reach higher elevations and handle heavier loads, or manoeuvre in tight spaces with a more compact machine for general maintenance operations, there is a suitable electric scissor lift available. Understanding the weight capacity requirements ensures safe and efficient lifting operations, preventing overloading and maintaining stability.
Unleash the power of all electric scissors lifts and experience the next level of efficiency and versatility. With their ground-breaking design and advanced features, all electric scissors lifts are revolutionising the industry. Explore the wide range of options and benefits they offer, and make informed decisions to elevate your projects.

Pre-project assessment
Understanding your electric scissor lift is the first step to ensuring a safe operation. Start with a thorough inspection of the lift’s features and controls. Verify controls: Heck all buttons and joysticks for responsiveness, ensuring the lift moves as expected in all directions. Aws nationwide provides comprehensive training for these controls.
Inspect the safety features
Make sure guardrails, emergency stop buttons, and outriggers (if present) are in optimal condition and familiarise yourself with their operation. Check the power source: Confirm that the lift’s batteries are fully charged or properly connected to a power source. Verify the load capacity: Understand the lift’s maximum load capacity and adhere strictly to it.
Choosing the right spot
Selecting an appropriate location for your scissor lift operation is critical. Ground stability: Ensure the ground the lift is operating on is level, stable, and capable of supporting the weight of the lift and any loads you intend to carry. Clearance: Before you start, make sure that there is enough space overhead to operate your lift safely without any obstructions. Avoid slopes and inclines: Scissor lifts are designed for use on flat surfaces. Avoid operating on slopes, inclines, or uneven terrain. Clear pathways: Make sure there are clear and safe pathways for the lift to operate in without obstacles or obstructions.
Secure the work area
Before using the scissor lift, establish a safe work zone. This includes: Secure the area: Use cones, signs, or barriers to cordon off the work area and keep unauthorised personnel away. Communicate: If you are working with a team, establish clear communication methods and signals to coordinate movements and tasks safely. Maintain a clean workspace: Remove debris and hazards from the work area to prevent tripping or accidents.
Operating the scissor lift
Once you’ve completed the pre-project assessment and set up your work area, you can now operate the scissor lift: All aboard! Climb onto the platform, ensuring that you have your personal protective equipment (ppe) on, including a safety harness if required. Start the lift: Turn on the power and familiarise yourself with the lift’s controls. Gently raise the platform to your desired height using the lift’s controls.
Move and adjust
Use the lift’s controls to manoeuvre the platform into the right position. Take care to avoid overhead obstructions and ensure that you maintain balance. Perform the task: Once the platform is in the correct position, carry out the task at hand, whether it’s maintenance, picking items from shelves, or any other work. Lower and exit: After completing your task, carefully lower the platform to the ground, and ensure that it’s stable and secure. Exit the platform safely.
Post-operation tasks
After using the electric scissor lift, don’t forget to perform these important post-operation tasks: Clean and maintain: Clean the lift, and if you notice any issues during operation, report them to maintenance. Secure the lift: Park the scissor lift in a designated area, and if required, lock it to prevent unauthorised use. Charge the batteries: If the lift is battery-powered, make sure to charge the batteries for the next use.
This seems like a good place to start. Of course, if you are renting or purchasing access equipment, one of the first things to take into consideration is the working height. There isn’t much point in acquiring a piece of access machinery if it doesn’t get your workers up to where they need to be. Ensure that you choose a model with a working height that allows your people to reach their work.
Alright so you have found a machine that can get tall enough to reach the ceiling of the warehouse, but it’s too wide to fit down the aisles. That isn’t going to work, is it? Luckily, there are narrow aisle and high reach type all electric scissors lifts that are designed to solve these kinds of problems. In this case, you may have to work around a reduced capacity in order to get a machine that is both small enough and tall enough to get where you need to go. This is just one example of why all aspects of the job need to be taken into consideration before making an equipment choice. Make sure you can get your machine to where it needs to go. Most scissor lifts come with extendable platforms to help operators get to places that they may not be able to drive directly under.
There are two major factors to consider. Is the floor upon which the machine is to drive around, laden with materials, tools and live workers rated for this kind of load? This may seem obvious but on living and breathing jobsites where slabs may still be curing or unscored, you need to consider that the size of machine you are using is appropriate for the ground it is operating on. To this effect, and especially regarding all electric scissors lifts, you need to consider the grade. An electric scissor lift is designed to be a mobile elevating platform. That means that where they are operating needs to be quite level. These machines are not designed for going off road or off of the slab, and they are not designed for driving up and down ramps. If you are planning on working off of a steeper grade like a parking ramp then it would be in your best interests to consider going with a boom lift instead.
Of course, once you’ve made sure that your lift is able to get to where it needs to be, you will need to ensure that it has the capacity to get your people up to where they need to be. These machines are not designed to be material lifts, so due planning in working procedures is required. Personnel will not be able to use these machines to lift up heavy beams or structural members. If this is the kind of work that is required, make sure to have a zoom boom or crane on-site to assist in lifting materials.
